Connecting the world: Databroker onboards leading industrial IoT/M2M solutions provider, Robustel
In the run-up to the official launch of its new marketplace, Databroker continues to expand its global community of data providers, and is proud to announce a new collaboration with Chinese IoT/M2M solutions provider, Robustel. The collaboration will enable Robustel’s network of partners–who provide solutions in every corner and sector of the ‘connected world’–to exchange and monetise data via the Databroker platform. Companies seeking data will also benefit, thanks to the extensive data sources and broad geographical coverage.
Often considered as the hardworking backbone of the Internet of Things (IoT), Machine-To-Machine (M2M) technology dates back over 175 years. It has steadily evolved ever since, and in 2020, the global M2M industry is worth just under USD 150 billion. Forecasts suggest that the industry will see compound annual growth of over 28% between 2020 and 2025.
As a leading IoT/M2M solutions provider, Chinese company Robustel is committed to helping businesses and industries across the world to solve their IoT and M2M problems with robust, secure, scalable and creative solutions, from hardware to complete ‘IoT in a box’ services. The company works with over 50 distribution partners worldwide, servicing more than 120 countries, and has a dedicated local presence in Germany, Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, the Netherlands and Hong Kong.
Robustel’s solutions can be found in every corner of the connected world–from security, retail and vending, utilities, oil and gas, industrial production and automation, and transportation, to environmental services and healthcare. This makes the collaboration with Databroker an ideal solution for exchanging and monetising the huge amount of varied, and highly sought-after data Robustel’s partners have at their disposal.
Databroker and Robustel first met at the 2019 IoT Solutions World Congress in Barcelona. There, we were able to explain first-hand the unique advantages of Databroker’s blockchain-based, peer-to-peer platform: easy access to large communities of data buyers; a single platform to manage data transactions; and guaranteed security, reliability and privacy thanks to blockchain technology.
Robustel was also able to see how the Databroker marketplace is perfectly aligned with the company’s range of solutions: on the marketplace, potential buyers can explore eight high-level data communities–Geographics, Environment, Transport, People, Agriculture, Energy, Economy, and Supply Chain. This is further broken down into a series of themes, making it easy for potential buyers to hone in on the specific data they are looking for.
Vice President of Robustel, Yi Huang comments: "The intersection of blockchain and IoT is a trend we’re seeing more and more as the industry matures. We believe enabling integration with the Databroker platform will enable the Robustel IoT ecosystem to extract massive value from their data and share insights that can improve the quality of IoT solutions world-wide”.
First steps: technical integration and publishing of data offers
When onboarding new data providers, our goal is to make the experience as smooth as possible. That’s why our engineers work closely with each and every data provider to explore and evaluate the systems integration of a key component: the Data eXchange Controller (DXC), which simplifies data exchange.
This software, installed on the seller’s system, allows data to be safely and securely transferred directly from the seller to the buyer, without ever touching the Databroker platform. By using unique IDs for each specific data ‘product’, the DXC opens a gateway allowing the buyer to access only the product(s) they have purchased.
Even before the technical integration is complete, data providers can start to publish ‘data offers’ on the Databroker marketplace. These data offers give the seller the opportunity to provide either detailed information about the data available–so a potential buyer understands exactly what is available for exchange or purchase–or high-level information that invites a potential buyer to get in touch to discuss their needs.
